Romany Housing

The aim was to design family housing with elements of Roma culture in Brno, in the city of Maloměřice and Obřany. The proposed buildings are arranged arend the property boundary of the plat, which the space between the houses created a space that will be used for playgrounds. The house itself is designed to suit the customs and traditions of the Roma population, especially socially. For Roma people are common for large families, where several generations lived together. This is adapter disposition. The center of the house is a large livingroom with kitchenette, where is the posibility of a common space for cooking and dining. These common are as linked to the three residential quarters, two of these part shave a priváte entrance, so they can operate as a separand welling unit. The apartment is in 1. GF posibility of living for 5 people in an apartment in 2. GF for 6 people in the apartment, which passes through both floors, can live up to 12 people. For the supporting structure is used surplus shipping containers, which significantly affect the shape of the house. Ejecting individual containers create quite rhythmic structure. The second floor is down to eject one container formed glass atrium, which can be opened and connected to all the rooms that surround it. The facade – exteriér is made of two materials. To a lesser extent, is used wooden siding. The predominant material is corrugated iron.

The bachelor's thesis solves family house's design in Brno - Maloměřice and Obřany. The main goal was to create several family houses, which are inspired by traditions and culture of the minority group of inhabitants. Objects are placed on the property so that create the playground and the place for gathering. Layout is adapted to special demands and habits. Central space is living room with the kitchen corner. Several bedrooms allowed multigeneration living. Steel structure is taken from used shipping containers, that creates specific form and it is possible to expand the house. Perforated Corten steel is used to smaller part of the facade and its design is inspired by Romany culture. Great part of facade is made of gray plaster.
